What to Expect in Worship at St. Timothy's
Worship is at the heart of all we do at St. Timothy's. Each weekend and at other times during the week, we gather to praise God, to give thanks for all our gifts, and to pray as a community following the Episcopal Liturgy. The principle gathering is Holy Communion, the service in which Christ is made known to us in bread and wine offered and shared at the Holy Table.
Each weekend, we celebrate Holy Communion (also called Holy Eucharist) in three services. Each service includes scripture according to our Lectionary, sermon, prayers and Communion. On Saturday at 5 pm we gather for an informal service with no music.
On Sunday we have two worship services. At 8 am we have a quieter service with no music. At 10:15 am our service is celebrated with music. There is organ or piano music, anthems, hymns, and other special music.
During the 10:15 service we have child care and programs for children. We offer nursery care for the very young and The Ark for toddlers. Elementary School age Kids attend Godly Play starting at 9:15 am and join their parents in worship before communion.
Our worship follows The Book of Common Prayer, and many worshipers find the service to be familiar, whether they come to us as life-long Episcopalians, Roman Catholics, or other Protestant traditions. Our bulletin has most the words from the scripture and The Book of Common Prayer. Our goal is to make our service comfortable for all and especially for first-time visitors. You may participate as much as you are comfortable, and we welcome all baptized Christians regardless of denomination or age to receive Communion.
We enjoy coffee, juice, and other refreshments in our Parish Hall after both Sunday services. There are always people to welcome visitors and answer questions. You are also welcome to speak with our clergy before or after the services.
