We will not have a May meeting.
Our next meeting will be our June spring brunch – details will be sent out soon!

St. Martha’s Altar Guild
Minutes of April 19, 2008 Meeting

The April meeting of St. Martha’s Altar Guild was opened with the Altar Guild prayer.

Those present were: Diana Morman, Marcella Huff, Melissa Dunagan, Mary Hovden, Ala Seaholm, Karen Voss and Stephanie Andrews.

We reviewed and approved the March minutes. We also discussed if any supplies were needed.

We debriefed Holy Week and Easter services. Easter fabrics are located in a large plastic bin on top of the tall left hand storage cabinet in the unlocked sacristy. Ideas were discussed about how to keep the fire alarm from going off when the thurible is being used (potentially light it in sanctuary rather than in the unlocked sacristy). We also determined that for the Easter Sunday service, 3-4 Altar Guild members are needed, at least two of these from normal 8:00 a.m. service duty, and that Altar Guild members would need to arrive 1_ hours prior to the service. We’re not sure if there will be an Easter Vigil service again in 2009.

We discussed the need to recruit additional members as several of our existing members will no longer be able to serve. Mary and Stephanie will discuss a strategy after the Big Event; the June Brunch would be a great way to recruit new members. Mary will submit an item for the Ministry Opportunity Booklet that McB Smith is working on – this item will list the need for additional Altar Guild members.

Ideas for the May “Behind the Bricks” article were discussed – Stephanie will write something about when the thurible is used. New inserts for the Altar Guild notebook were handed out. They will be emailed to those that weren’t at the meeting and mailed to those without email. Mary will talk to Neil Guy about posting all Altar Guild items to the St. Timothy’s website.

After the formal meeting we:
  • Bagged communion wafers.
  • Put out new prayer books and hymnals.

Respectfully submitted,
Mary Hovden (filling-in for Fran Bristle)
